WHAT IS THE CATBIRD?
A temporary lightweight portable golf club perch, stored in the golf bag like any other golf club, that inserts into the ground allowing the golfer to lean a few golf clubs upright against the concave portion of the rubber handle.

HOW DO I USE IT?
Remove it from the golf bag along with the other required clubs, carry the Catbird; and the clubs to the area of the golf shot. Simply insert the Catbird into the ground, make a club selection and lean the unused clubs against the Catbird. After the shot, remove the Catbird and carry it and the golf clubs back to the bag or proceed directly to the next shot. Around the green the golfer may elect to leave the Catbird inserted in the ground and merely replace the putter with a wedge.

WHEN DO I USE THE CATBIRD?
This depends on the level of play of the golfer, course conditions, cart path rules, etc. On average, we estimate that:

Low handicap golfer .......... 10 to 12 times per 18 holes
Mid handicap golfer ........... 12 to 15 times per 18 holes
High handicap golfer .......... 16 times and up

WHY WOULD I USE THE CATBIRD?
It will help your golf experience in many ways. Some of which are:

In the USA over $350,000,000 worth of golf clubs were lost, the Catbird will help in lowering this number.

WHERE CAN I USE THE CATBIRD?
Anyplace on the golf course, where the situation calls for taking more than one golf club out of the golf bag. The most use will probably be around the green, but the Catbird™ will also be very useful in the fairway, rough, around the tee box, and the range.

WHERE DID THE NAME CATBIRD COME FROM?
From an old baseball expression used by the late Brooklyn Dodger Announcer "Red Barber". He would use the expression "sitting in the catbird seat" when a batter was in the advantage on the count (three balls & no strikes). This expression has come to mean more than just baseball. It has come to mean "a person is on top of things when he or she is in "the catbird seat". In fact, James Thurber wrote a short story titled "The Catbird Seat". Therefore, the name Catbird - to indicate that a golfer is on top of his or her game.

WHY DO I NEED THE CATBIRD? I'VE PLAYED GOLF ALL THESE YEARS WITHOUT IT.
The game of golf has evolved from crude beginnings. There used to be leather balls and wooden shafts. Golfers wore jackets and ties not that long ago. The Catbird is part of this evolution along with golf gloves, high tech balls, oversized club heads, soft spikes, etc. All of these improvements have helped the experience of playing golf - the Catbird is one more step along the way to better golf. We feel that golf clubs are too valuable to be lost and grip dryness is critical to the proper execution of the golf shot.

WILL MY GOLFING BUDDIES LAUGH WHEN THEY SEE ME USE THE CATBIRD FOR THE FIRST TIME?
Maybe, until they see it in use. Just remember that the first golfers to use metal drivers were laughed at. The benefits of the Catbird will far outweigh any initial apprehension.

WILL MY WIFE LET ME PLAY MORE GOLF?
The Catbird has many positive benefits. This could be one of them. You will be enjoying the game of golf more because:

  •   You are getting lower scores
  •   You aren't coming home with a sore back anymore
  •   You don't come home screaming about having to buy
a new wedge because you left your last one on the 9th
      hole and forgot about it

She will see that you are enjoying the game, and therefore, might just let you play more often to keep you happy and healthy.

HOW DOES IT HOLD THE OTHER CLUBS
The Catbird is pushed into the ground. Then, you take the clubs you have selected (handles up, of course) and lean them against the concave section of the rubber handle of the Catbird. Your clubs stay visible, and the grips stay dry.

WILL IT MAKE ME PLAY BETTER GOLF
Almost definitely. Greater shot selection, less energy (no walking back and forth, remember), less stress on your lower back, and dry grips. This all adds up to lower scores in our books. And on your scorecard.
